簡介(Book Description from Barnes & Noble):
Good basic guide
As a junior doctor starting a four month placement in Emergency Medicine, I have found this book helpful. It is well written and very practical. Its not a reference text, clearly, but is helpful in answering questions like 'what should my basic approach be to...' electrical burns/bleeding in early pregnancy/collapse query cause/restraining delerious patients and all those other problems that can and will brighten up your Friday evening shift.
Useful and Handy
This book gives a very practical approach to managing cases in the ED. The two page format covering each topic is easy to read, illustrated with diagrams and most importantly flags things not to be missed when dealing with patients. A must read for all medical students during their ED attachment (just enough content to prevent info overload! yet sufficient to manage patients presenting to the ED). I have found myself referring to it a number of times as a foundation doctor! Will definitely recommend!!
Well worth it
Starting in Emergency Medicine can be daunting, do you really have to know everything about everything? This beautifully illustrated book puts that in to perspective. It looks at Medicine and Surgery from the perspective of an Emergency Room physician- what do you really need to know about each condition? How do you treat them in the acute setting with no other information to go on. Although aimed at Medical Students, as a junior doctor going in to Emergency Medicine I have found it useful to read up on topics I have seen during the day- a good refresher!
