簡介(Book Description from Barnes & Noble):
Addiction Recovery Management: Theory, Research, and Practice is the first book on the recovery management approach to addiction treatment and post-treatment support services. Distinctive in combining theory, research, and practice within the same text, this ground-breaking title includes authors who are the major theoreticians, researchers, systems administrators, clinicians and recovery advocates who have developed the model. State-of-the art and the definitive text on the topic, Addiction Recovery Management: Theory, Research, and Practice is mandatory reading for clinicians and all professionals who work with patients in recovery or who are interested in the field.

Customer Reviews from Amazon :

Instantly seminal upon publication
It is difficult to overestimate the importance of this book to the discipline of addiction treatment. This book is a compilation of several authors' papers on the subject of Recovery Management, but the voice and spirit of Bill White is clear throughout. And as with most works by Bill White not only is it a comprehensive and scholarly in its exploration of the subject, but it is immediately useful in helping people in recovery and deeply inspiring to read. To say that this book was instantly seminal upon publication and hugely influential within weeks is not only factual but requisite for any review. We provide an individual copy to each of our staff members in training and require its continued reading and reference throughout our program's operation. My copy is already heavy with margin notes, bookmarks, and highlighter ink. I was happy to discover that some of the key concepts in the Moos chapter on Processes that Promote Recovery and the Scott and Dennis chapter on Recovery Check-ups were informally in place at our program. These chapters reinforced and broadened our use of them. The Skipper and DuPont chapter on Professional Health Programs is nothing short of a lifesaving rescue flare for the sagging philosophical tenets and dubious clinical practices of the addiction treatment field. This book is a blueprint for the future success of addiction treatment (or rather "recovery initiation and sustenance"). It lays out the only pathway I know of that holds the promise of providing quality recovery care at a reasonable cost to as many people seeking sobriety as need it.

Essential for anyone in the field of addiction
This is one of the most important books in the field of addition right now. There is a significant need for a shift in the conceptualization and treatment of addiction. This book is the first to coherently argue for a movement towards a more long-term recovery model of addiction at the national, state, and local levels. The book starts with a theoretical overview of `Recovery Oriented Systems Of Care (ROSC)' and the reasons for the needed paradigm shift in our understanding and treatment of chronic substance use disorders. Several leaders in the field then review research findings supporting the need for and benefits of ROSC in both adult and adolescent populations. The book also provides several `real-world' case examples of attempts to adapt current treatment approaches to a more long-term recovery model. Finally, the lead authors discuss the necessary next steps in disseminating a recovery-model framework and the challenges faced. This book is well organized, practical in its focus, and a necessary resource for anyone working in the addiction field.
