Practical approach to electroencephalography

簡介(Book Description from Google):
Why consult encyclopedic references when you only need the essentials? Practical Approach to Electroencephalography, by Mark H. Libenson, MD, equips you with just the right amount of guidance you need for obtaining optimal EEG results! It presents a thorough but readable guide to EEGs, explaining what to do, what not to do, what to look for, and how to interpret the results. It also goes beyond the technical aspects of performing EEGs by providing case studies of the neurologic disorders and conditions in which EEGs are used, making this an excellent learning tool. Abundant EEG examples throughout help you to recognize normal and abnormal EEGs in all situations.

Customer Reviews from Amazon:

極好Uptodate, concise, clear and very practical EEG book for all.
I have flipped thru the pages to get a taste of this book, and read here and there. I also checked the areas which are not described in clear manner in other books. I feel this is a book which put into the writing, the daily thought process of every EEG reader and daliy discussion on EEG among the neurologists, residents and technicians. This book doesnot go into details of technology but provides essentials, needed for the EEG reader, to have the whole concept of EEG. Great teacher think about the students' problems and then gives the solution in very claer and starightforward way. This prooves the teaching skills of the author. Welldone! Dr Libenson. Practical Approach to Electroencephalography

極好Very helpful EEG book
If you do not want to buy multiple books on EEG and want only one, then this is it. I wish that this book had been written sooner. I am a epilepsy fellow in training and have read many EEG primers and text books including the recommended classics like Hughes, Ebersole , Niedermyer, John's Hopkins atlas, etc...All these books are good but, are dry reading or too voluminous and, at times are difficult to digest at first pass. On the other hand I really enjoyed reading the Practical Approach to Electroencephalograph by by Mark Libenson M.D. The book is filled with all the information from basic concepts to advanced EEG interpretation written in a vey nice and easy to understand format. The author makes a special effort to simplify and explain the fundamentals and concepts in interpreting the EEG. Ample illustrative examples and easy to understand analogies are provided. There are quizzes to help you better understand the construction, advantages and potential pitfalls off various montages. While reading the book I had many "aha!" moments. There are many pearls which are very helpful even for the experienced EEG reader. This is one book that grows with you as you expand your role as an EEG reader. It suits the needs of both the novice and experienced. This book is the next best thing to having an experienced and knowledgeable Epileptologist by your side. I would highly recommend it to burdened neurology residents and epilepsy fellows who want to master EEG interpretation in an easy and knowledgeable manner. EEG techs would find it helpful too. I had fun reading it and hope that you do too.

Human sectional anatomy

簡介(Book Description from Google):
First published in 1991, Human Sectional Anatomy set new standards with the outstanding photographic quality of its cadaver sections and accompanying radiological images. Now in its third edition, this handy-to-use pocketbook of unsurpassed quality is further enhanced by additional material including several completely new pages of sagittal and coronal sections and improved radiological images obtained using the most up-to-date equipment. The photographic material is accompanied by invaluable notes with details of key anatomical and radiological features.

Customer Reviews from Amazon:

極好I LOVE THIS BOOK!
Human Sectional Anatomy: Pocket Atlas of Body Sections, CT and MRI Images I bought this book to help me prepare for the CT registry. It is fantastic! Not only for studying for the registry, but just to have as a reference. It is a little bigger than "pocket size", but relatively small & easy to keep as a reference at work. For each anatomy slice illustrated, there is a photograph of an actual cadaver slice with almost everything numbered/labeled -- muscles, all vascular structures, etc., etc. Then, the facing page has a slice from an imaging modality (MR or CT) with a line drawing right next to it so you can find the structures more easily. There is also a drawing showing at what level of the body the section is taken from. I love, love, love this book.

極好Great reference book when scanning!!
This book gives you the real picture of the anatomy along with the scanning image that goes with it. I love it! (Even though it doesn't fit in one's pocket)It helps alot with scanning.

極好Awesome
Freaking. Awesome. This is a great reference for learning how to identify various anatomical structures on CT and MRI images, and very helpful as a medical student studying anatomy. Although large structures are easy to identify with a basic knowledge of anatomy, I found myself often wanting to be able to properly discern all the various smaller structures. This book makes it a snap to do that. I would highly HIGHLY recommend this to get a better grasp on what you're seeing in various imaging studies. And it's just plain fun to browse through!

Head and neck

簡介(Book Description from Google):
Much of the diversity of head and neck diseases is due to the large number and broad function of the organs within this region. The surgical pathologist must become proficient in this subspecialty area in order to identify and categorize many different subtypes of lesions and diseases, including those affecting the thyroid and salivary glands. This latest book in the Cambridge Surgical Pathology series comprehensively covers all of the methods utilized by pathologists to accurately diagnose diseases affecting all organs in the head and neck region. Coverage is not limited to findings from the light microscope but also includes other genetic, molecular, and immunologic diagnostic modalities, and the unique orientation allows the reader to follow the progression of disease states from incipient to advanced. This book is illustrated with more than 300 color photomicrographs and accompanied by a CD-ROM of all images in downloadable format.

Customer Reviews from Amazon:

極好an excellent head and neck pathology textbook
As a third year resident, I need to start preparing for my board examination. Head and neck diseases are part of the examination. I searched the literature to find a good boook for it. The ideal book for me is: numerous pictures, detailed figure ligands, simple and clear text, easy to read and remember, and clarified differentiation diagnosis. One of my colleagues bought this book and he recommended to me. I really like it and it is exactly what I am looking for. In addition to what I mensioned before, the author also put her clinical experience in this book, such as for a high grade salivary gland carcinoma case, the first specimen she got was a positive metastatic lymph node, the second specimen was a minor salivary gland with carcinoma in it, usually we probably stopped here. However, what she did for this case is she led the surgeon to find the primary site of this tumor, the parotid gland which is most common location for this tumor. I think this is very useful for my future practice. You will find a lot of useful tables for differentiation diagnosis. Good book, many thanks for Dr. Brandwein-Gensler.

極好An excellent lavishly illustrated head and neck pathology textbook/atlas
Dr. Margaret Brandwein-Gensler has created an excellent and unique head and neck pathology book. The text contains essential information about the entities that makes it easy using this book everyday when encountering cases in the practice of surgical pathology. While concise, the book covers most of the entities in head and neck pathology. It is well organized, making finding information very easy. For each entity, there is an introduction with clinical features, and sections detailing histopathology (and cytopathology in many cases), immunohistochemistry findings and differential diagnosis. The pictures, which are numerous, are of excellent quality and in most cases each entity is illustrated with several images showing variations in pathologic presentations and sometimes even pitfalls. Gross pictures and radiologic images complement the histologic pictures. When appropriate, tables are available and include differential diagnoses, classifications and summary of publications. And as in many of the Cambridge University Press books, the price is very reasonable, particularly considering the numerous illustration of the book. I highly recommend this book to practicing surgical pathologist and pathology residents.

Comprehensive psychiatry review

簡介
(Book Description from Google):
The accreditation process for psychiatry in the United States is considered one of the most difficult among all medical specialties. Although many board review books in psychiatry exist, this is the first fact-based resource that can be used for both written and oral review. Dr. William Weiqi Wang has developed a concise, outline-oriented format supplemented with case studies to prepare residents for the oral and written psychiatry boards. Each chapter can stand alone and is presented in "bite-size" clusters to facilitate easy absorption of the material. A section at the end of the book includes 150 board-review-style questions and answers drawn from previous tests. This book is a necessity for any student who plans to score aggressively on the ABPN, PRITE, and even the USMLE for medical students who want to pursue a career in psychiatry.

Customer Reviews from Amazon:

極好A great quick and thorough psych reviewThis is a great book for a quick and thorough review. Every chapter has an interesting introduction followed by bullet style text. The text is succint and right to the point, without overly elaborating. Many interesting comparisons, such as all the eye symptoms of different addictive substances, that are not seen in any other books. Lot of elegant illustrations that are very helpful in understanding and memorizing. Mnemonics are sensible. Multiple choice questions are mostly adequate, and some are quite tricky. There are a few typos, but this did not effect the pleasure of reading this. I have to say this is the best review book in the market.

Customer Reviews from Amazon:

極好Highly recommended! Great review!
I found this review to be an exceptional companion review to the Kettering seminars. It is a comprehensive and thorough review. The authors have done a great job of organizing and teaching the material in a very understandable way. It is specifically targeted toward the areas that the CRT exam stresses. The information is reliable and has reinforced and expanded upon everything I have learned from other sources. I purchased this review when I saw that the author was the main author of Egan's text in the 1990s--and it has surpassed my expectations. The practice tests on the CD are also very helpful as they give an explanation as to which answer is the best of the given choices. I highly recommend this review.

Excellent resource for the lactation professional. My only disappointment at this point was not enough credit given to K. Jean Cotterman for her work and article on Reverse Pressure Softening. The behavioral neurology of dementia

簡介(Book Description from Google):
The Behavioral Neurology of Dementia is a comprehensive textbook that offers a unique and modern approach to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with dementing conditions in the twenty-first century. The coverage is broad, ranging from common conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinsonian disorders, vascular and frontotemporal dementia, to the more obscure such as Jakob-Creutzfeldt disease. Subtypes of mild cognitive impairment are presented and the early prodromes of neurodegenerative diseases are explored. Simple approaches to bedside mental status testing, differential diagnosis and treatment, genetic testing, interpreting neuropsychological testing and neuroimaging findings, and assessing rapidly progressive dementias, paraneoplastic syndromes, and disorders of white matter give guidance to both the novice and expert in dementia. The basic science of dementia is outlined in introductory chapters on animal models of dementia, dementia epidemiology and dementia neuropathology.

Customer Reviews from Amazon:

極好Practical, useful, clinical
Specialists in behavioral neurology and neuropsychology will get a lot out of this book, as I did. It covers all the dementia syndromes from the biological, genetic, neuropsychological and behavioral points of view. Books in this area can be divided into two group: those aimed primarily at researchers, and those aimed primarily at practitioners. Research-oriented books are typically heavily referenced and include exhaustive detail even when it is not relevant to current practice. Practice-oriented books typically offer briefer summaries that try to separate out those facts and issues most useful when dealing with patients, and will gloss over or omit details of research if they don't have any relevance to clinical work. This is the latter type of book, and that's exactly what I was looking for. If you are as well, this book is a good option.
