Customer Reviews from Amazon:
Excellent Guide for Practice in the ED
This is a great book for those new to the field of pharmacy practice in the ED or those looking to improve their practice in the ED. It has made my transition into ED practice a much smoother one. By having read ahead of time about where errors in the ED tend to occur it was easier to anticipate where I could make interventions. Sections I have gone back to several times are the toxicology chapter and the quick reference tables in the appendix.
Essential Reference for ER Healthcare Workers
Safe and Effective Medication Use in the Emergency Department is an essential addition to the library of any health care worker in the emergency department. It outlines specific practices that not only will increase the efficiency of the pharmacist but helps the ER to implement a program for the clinical pharmacist. It can also help any pharmacist or pharmacy student decide whether or not a career or residency in the ER would be right for their specific personality. If you are already practicing in the ER it gives many ideas on how to expand upon the services that the ED already offers. I would highly recommend this book because it has been a tremendous reference in helping me transition from a pharmacy student to a pharmacist working in the ER.
A step-by-step guide to improving pharmacy services in the ED
I just finished reading the book, Safe and Effective Medication Use in the Emergency Department and I must say it is very well written, detailed, and usable. I was very impressed with how comprehensive it was in explaining every aspect of pharmacist involvement in the ED. I especially enjoyed how frequently the book gives real world examples of the author's own work site as a way of showing how good concepts become practice. The book is nothing short of a step-by-step guide on how to be a pharmacist in the emergency department. This is a must read for any pharmacist interested in ED pharmacy whether you are new to the profession or a seasoned professional, there is a great deal of experience and knowledge contained in this publication. The topics have already been essential to my own practice.
