Doctor, I am so glad you have read this, I have chronic DP/DR
I have struggled with this from childhood and have fought my way through the mental health system for about 35 years. I am now 50. I thought I was one of about 4 people in the world who had this, per SO many professionals, until the internet, when all of us came out of the woodwork to see we were not alone. I am furious with the medical profession, and tremendously grateful for Dr. Sierra's work. I beg that all mental health professionals become aware of this, ASAP. If I could I would buy copies for every psychiatrist/therapist I've ever seen who "doesn't get it" or those who have told me to "get over it." Medical residents have absolutely no clue about it though it is a common symptom of panic attacks. Neurologists are very informed about DP/DR. What happened to the study of neurology in psychiatry? One current medical resident who has seen me doesn't even understand what deja-vu is. How is that possible? I'm sorry I am so angry, but now feel vindicated. Again thank you Dr. Sierra for your tireless efforts. For the first time in my life I have a grain of hope that all DP/DR sufferers will not be neglected or dismissed any more. I was thrilled when "Feeling Unreal" came out, but I feel this will have a far greater impact on the medical community, PLEASE. Also, all psychiatrists out there -- anti-psychotics may help some of us, but in many cases (including my own) they can cause DP/DR to become unbearable.

I was shocked to see that Depersonalization Disorder is such a common syndrome, and one about which so much is known, as Dr. Sierra, a true expert in the topic, brilliantly explains, in this "little" gem of a book (it can easily be read in a week or less). His knowledge about the syndrome is wide and deep. His respect for the topic and the reader are evident throughout the book, in things such as how well referenced, how clear and easy to read, and how up to date it is. The other shocking thing is to see how truly neglected (as the title says) this syndrome has been. This book is another proof (as if more were needed) that it behooves American and European Psychiatries to communicate more and to learn more from each other(some of that is already happening, increasingly so).

This is THE BOOK for anyone in the skin care field !
I initially read The Skin Type Solution by Dr Baumann and absolutely LOVED it ! As a skin care instructor I used her book all the time to teach my students. Now, I have another resource with this new book. Dr Baumann breaks things down so clearly that it is not intimidating in any way. It is not your usual text book either. I am always finding new answers to questions I have had as well as my students. The skin care industry is so fluid, if you do NOT know your stuff, you will not be successful.

Outstanding reference
A great reference for the emergency department. In a field where we are expected to understand and incorporate a multitude of imaging modalities, many of which we must read ourselves, there is a surprising lack of reference material. This book fills that gap.

Must have textbook for emergency physicians
This book is loaded with CT, ultrasound, MRI, and plain radiograph images. It's a great reference book to have in the department. I'd say this is an essential text for both junior and senior emergency residents learning how to read CTs, plain films, and MRIs. It's edited by Chris Fox, one of the most famous people around in emergency ultrasound. This is an outstanding book.

Great Modern Reference Text
An excellent reference textbook on Orthopaedic Trauma topics for residents, fellows, and traumatologists. Contains updated reviews of topics and current literature citations and evaluations as well as very user friendly videos on common trauma procedures. I highly recommend it as a part of the library of the Orthopaedic Surgeon involved in fracture care.

Excellent trauma manual
Extremely well written, easy to read concise yet comprehensive textbook for trauma. Modern techniques and implants covered well. The DVD's are fantastic. This and the "Master Techniques: Fractures" give you all you need

It's impact has been truly seminal for me!
This text is now two years old (2007), but is probably the most complete orthopaedic trauma reference I have seen presenting the current standard of care. The editor and authors took on the ambitious task of striving to cover the wide spectrum of orthopaedic surgical trauma organized by body area. Hence, there is complete treatment of upper extremity trauma from compartment syndromes to specific injuries of the hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, humerus, and shoulder. Likewise there is coverage of spinal, truncal, and lower extremity trauma. The text provides comprehensive treatment of each topic, is richly illustrated, discusses classification schemes, provides surgical approaches, and tips and pearls for such topics as locked plating, intramedullary fixation, and other forms of internal fixation. The bibliography is complete and current (at least through 2006). This has become my preferred go to first resource to research or review an injury I have never treated before, or have not seen for some time. The DVDs are an adjunct, but unfortunately, quality of the image is sometimes suboptimal. My only complaint is the size and weight of the book: 940 pages, 8 pounds, which may have lent itself better to a two volume set.

Better than Netter!
have taught human gross anatomy to medical students for 3 years now. Netters is a good atlas but the Thieme atlas of anatomy series is the best I have come across. The figures focus well on specific areas of the body and give a much more information rather than just structure. It is not a replacement for an anatomy textbook such as Moore's but is an essential supplement.

Best on the market
This series from Thieme (this is the third book) so far surpasses every other illustrated anatomy, comparisons are almost pointless. Get all three, learn them, pass your exams.

Brilliant
I just love the amazing pictures in this book. Although it is an atlas is also has some really interesting written details that you don't often get in the other atlases. I would recommend all the Thieme Atlases of Anatomy, they are truly worthwhile books to have

I find this to be the best handbook of neurocritical care available currently. Great resource
I recently started a small hyperbaric clinic, and am at the beginning of a steep learning curve relative to HBOT. This book has helped me and others I come in contact with understand treatment and treatment issues for many of the conditions that hyperbarics is currently being utilized. The chapters on specific conditions are thorough, well-annotated, and specific. This is the first place I go for information. I'm grateful this is updated periodically as the research base in growing rapidly. I highly recommend this book. Don't be deterred by the price, it's worth it.

highly recommended!!!
I absolutely love this book! It's small, handy and has tons of pictures to easily highlight what and how to examine. Also, has very useful, detailed drawings of each nerve that are clinically relevant. I'm in Family Practice and some parts of this book are beyond me (EMG, detailed muscle innervation/needle placement info, cord injury info), but 80% of the book is what I was taught in medical school and can't remember for those 5 patients a month that need a thorough exam. I also like how well and concisely it's organized.

Aphasia Bible
A comprehensive review on aphasia. Moreover, it could be called the "Aphasia Bible".

Extremely informative
The book is very detailed with information about the diff types of aphasias and other neurogenic disorders. It is a must have for an SLP student or SLP! I gave it four stars just because it isn't the easiest textbook to read. The way the material is presented is very complex.

Evidence-Based Exercise Info at its Best
When it comes to telling people how to train, I want to know that the advice I give is based on evidence, not what on other people say, and not on what I "think" is going to work. While you could dig around on various electronic databases, such as Medline to get such information, its nice to have all the latest excercise recommendations based on sound research at your fingertips. And if you're looking for such a book, well, look no further. Readers who regularly read sports science research will see some familiar names on page vii, which contains the list of people who contributed to the book. To me, knowing that people like Kraemer, Faigenbaum, or Hatfield had a hand in this book puts it on solid ground. And the book is thorough too. Covering just about every aspect of conditioning and training, from basic exercise physiology to how many sets of an exercise should I do, its just a plain fact that there's not much that has been left out. Of course all the major areas such as strength training, endurance training, and flexibility are there as well. Also notable are the great pictures of stretching and strengthening exercises as well as little numbers (2) to refer the reader to the study the info was taken from. Right on! My criticisms of this book are picky and few. For example I did notice that on page 299 the book advocates holding a static stretch for 30 seconds to become more flexible. Experts in the field who keep up on the research may not agree with this. While the 30 seconds rule applies to a lot of muscle groups, it does not apply to all- like stretching the calf muscles to increase dorsiflexion (see The 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution for a nice updated literature review on ankle stretching). In case you're wondering, 30s won't cut it to increase ankle ROM. In conclusion, as a researcher and trainer, I was really impressed with the evidence-based information and the thoroughness of the text. I think it would be of most benefit to coaches, athletic trainers, personal trainers, or anyone who wants a good resource to guide their exercise prescriptions.

Definitely worth owning
I've been involved in alternative health since my early 20's and have read and studied extensively in body and energy work, nutrition, and numerous forms of healing, far too many to mention. I gravitate naturally to energy work and have been very interested in the visionary aspects of cranial therapy ever since reading the books of Milne, Gilchrist, and Sills. Dr. Shea's book easily holds it's own with these forward thinking individuals and helped open new insights in my thought process regarding the role of embryology, psychology, and mythology as it relates not only to energy work but also to us as human beings. He started me thinking in whole new directions from perspectives I had only touched upon in the past. For me the section on embryology was worth the cost of the book but there was so much more as a bonus. I have not studied cranial osteopathy, or cranial sacral therapy, specifically but have come to many of the same experiences mentioned in these books naturally in my own journey with energy healing. Not having the same terminology as an osteopath some of the material went over my head not because I couldn't understand it but more because I was less interested in trying to learn it. I was able to get the underlying meaning quite easily anyway because of Dr. Shea's writing style. I would highly recommend anyone involved in healing, or therapy, to read this book as there are a ton of insights in it that will help any therapist regardless of modality. Dr. Shea is very engaging, extremely honest about his own past experiences, which I found truly authentic and much appreciated, and he is also an enjoyable writer...important in such a book. Believe me, as I've read many such books that weren't and they can be agonizingly long. I am looking forward to the next volume in the series when it comes out and will be among the first to buy it. Biodynamic Cranial Therapy is one for the book shelf. Hope this helps.

Biodynamics as Embodied Spirituality
This book was a delightful surprise for me. A long-term student of vitalistic chiropractic, biodynamics, poetry, and the Natural World, I was very pleased to see that this book embodied all of that and more. Today, we are witnessing the "waking up" of many people in the West, many of whom teach, hold satsang, and give pointers to the "beyond the Beyond." In this book, Michael Shea doesn't just write about Truth, but teaches ways to perceive and access It, in ways that are simple, profound, even romantic (in the best, biggest sense of the word). Sure, this is another in a stream of (mostly wonderful) books on the "new" field of Craniosacral Biodynamics, and it succeeds on that front. But, more importantly---to me---this text skillfully posits cranial work almost as a metaphor for the spiritual path of the Natural andd Naturally Non-Dual World and ushers you towards the means to embody that. And---this is only Volumee One of Three!

It's impact has been truly seminal for me!
Michael J. Shea is so generous! I'm half way through his book and I'm changed forever! For the very first time, I can see inside me and I've started to clear up the clutter. Thus my time has lengthened and I can accomplish more & be more effective in my communication with others. I feel so confident now with regard to my career & my life. up-to-date in all the fields of reserach and practice it is all in one approach on mainstream psychiatric disorders and treatments. perfect for student, practitioner or your educated local with an interest. buying books without first seeing them can be a bit of a stab in the dark this is a wholesome approach to psychiatric conditions and treatments with easy to read and follow layout with very little jargon, thouroughly worth the $ paid.
