Each subject is introduced by a detailed discussion of the symptoms and signs of disordered nervous function, their anatomic and physiologic bases, and their clinical implications.

Customer Reviews from Amazon :
Incredible book; very readable and comprehensive and without a doubt a must have. I recommended the stroke chapter to anyone starting their journey in neurology. It is my go to reference with the added benefit of being engaging. It is extremely well written, which makes the absorbed material quite memorable. Essential for both the wards and the boards. Cannot recommend this book highly enough!

Outstanding new edition of a classic neurology text

I have been using this text for years because it has been consistently authoritative and up to date. There has been an invaluable section discussing all the broad categories of neurological problems followed by chapters with detailed descriptions of individual diseases. The current edition follows this organization but has been extensively revised to keep pace with the advances in neurology especially in therapies and clinical neuroscience. The other major change in this edition is greatly enhanced coverage of neuroimaging.

A great investment

This is an outstanding neurology text book; very complete and great to read. I own two of the previous editions and I am impressed with the improvements and updates of this 10th edition.

Atlas of EEG patterns

簡介(Book Description from Barnes and Noble):

The electroencephalogram (EEG) is essential to the accurate diagnosis of many neurologic disorders. The Second Edition of Atlas of EEG Patterns sharpens readers’ interpretation skills with an even larger array of both normal and abnormal EEG pattern figures and text designed to optimize recognition of telltale findings. Trainees will benefit from hundreds of EEG figures, helping them spot abnormalities and identify the pattern name. Experienced neurologists will find the book excellent as a quick reference and when trying to distinguish a finding from similarly appearing patterns.
Organized by EEG pattern, the Atlas orients you to the basics of EEG, helps the reader identify the characteristic EEG wave features and leads you to the EEG diagnosis through a table that organizes all of the EEG patterns according to their wave features. The Atlas includes the full range of EEG patterns from the common rhythms to the rare findings, and it also includes numerous examples of artifacts.
NEW in the Second Edition…
• Solution Site with full text and image bank.
• An extensive table guides you from EEG wave features to a list of EEG patterns that have the features, then to detailed descriptions and examples of each pattern.
• Over 150 new EEG figures from an established EEG laboratory sharpen your interpretation skills using real-world examples.
Organized by wave features rather than pattern names, this atlas helps guide the reader to an EEG interpretation even when the waveform is unfamiliar. The first section takes the reader through the process of characterizing EEG waves by their features. The second section organizes EEG patterns by their features, so provides EEG waveform differential diagnoses. The third section is organized alphabetically by pattern name with each pattern described in a way that allows the reader to distinguish it from similarly appearing patterns. Examples of the patterns also are provided.

Customer Reviews from Amazon :
Great book with clear text and very good images. The Kindle version has, sometimes, poor image quality as usual for Kindle versions.

Comparing Four Texts for PA's, Med Students, Residents...

I was recently on a committee preparing an ACC report on textbooks for young or new Cardiology practitioners, and older autodidacts brushing up on the latest science for a career change or advance. As a technical editor and volunteer at preptorial dot org, I prepare the exam questions both for their free test banks, and the actual professional exams for credentialing and CME's/ CPE's.
The standards we used were completeness, readability, level, relevance to exams, digital/web resources and price/value. Out of 22 texts and books evaluated, 4 got 10 stars (the equivalent of Amazon's 5 stars):

Excellent Reference

This masterful textbook on field of cardiology is 2,600 pages in length, and covers almost every topic you would want to research. More importantly it recognizes that thousands of photographs and diagrams make the text explanations easier to understand. There are two other competing textbooks of comparable length and coverage in the field but their writing style seems far more complex and difficult reading. Dr. Chatterjee is an internationally renowned expert in the field and an excellent teacher. As you would expect from the recipient of the "Gifted Teacher Award" from the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Chatterjee's presentation on subjects is clear, well organized, and through.

Case files. Psychiatry

簡介(Book Description from Barnes and Noble):

You need exposure to high-yield cases to excel on the psychiatry clerkship and the shelf-exam. Case Files: Psychiatrypresents sixty real-life cases that illustrate essential concepts. Each case includes complete discussion, clinical pearls, references, definitions of key terms, and USMLE-style review questions with detailed explanations of the correct answers. With this system, you'll learn in the context of real patients, rather than merely memorize facts.
Customer Reviews from Amazon :
amazing study guide for psych! This was pretty much the only book I used for my rotation and it was definitely more than I needed. the cases are great, the explanations are clear and accurate. good breadth included.

So much like the shelf

I was amazed taking my shelf at how much the questions were like the case files questions. The practice questions really enable you to be able to distinguish between similar diagnoses. This was my main study tool but I also read through Blueprints. I found between the two, there were no real surprises on my exam. I also love the cart that is in the introduction with the drugs, their uses and side effects. I annotated the chart throughout my rotation and by the time I was done I felt that I had the psych drugs (which I hated during my first two years) mastered.

Very helpful

I'm a PMHNP student and these cases are a great way to review foundational knowledge. Theres an ipad app version that looks really neat, too. Next up are Stahl's case studies.
